Follow these tips for keeping your Plants happy this month:
Oregano (wild marjoram) covers the hillsides in Greece and scents the summer air. The sweet spicy scent of oregano was created by Goddess Aphrodite as the symbol of happiness. Aristotle suggested oregano as an antidote to poisoning and in ancient Egypt oregano's power to heal, disinfect and preserve was well known. Marjoram was introduced to Europe in the Middle Ages and the herbalist Gerard recommended for those "prone to overmuch sighing"
Medicinal: use as an infusion/tea for colds, headaches & gastrointestinal issues. Add infusion to bath water.
Culinary: chop finely for salads, butter sauces for fish or meat. Blend with chili and garlic. Add to pizza and pasta sauces.
Garden: beneficial to bees, can be grown indoors & easily transplanted to an outdoor pot or in the ground.
